It's very simple, actually. People suffer because their spirit is
attached to the unreal. When reality is the foundation of spirit,
there is no suffering. There can be pain and difficulties that are
caused by the nature of the material, but pain doesn't cause one to
suffer, because it is seen as transient, not permanent, and the light
of the reality is not dimmed by their presence.

But none of that is in any sense related to God, who is far beyond
such problems. God always forgives because in him there is no
attachment to the illusion, and he always sees the true nature of a
being, not the illusion of sin. If a being accepts forgiveness, it is
forgiven, all impurities burn in God's presence, but often a being
feels that wrongs have to be made right, and responsibility has to be
taken for one's actions, because one of the attributes of God's
presence is perfect righteousness and consciousness of one's
relationship with everything else.
